University Transfer Information Session: Tuesday, September 8, 2015 and Wednesday, September 9, 2015

Are you thinking about transferring to a four-year university? If so, attend this information session to learn all about transferring! Topics covered include: admission requirements for popular universities, transferring your financial aid, how to find scholarships, how to navigate university websites, and more! Creating an E-Portfolio: Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Online career portfolios are a great tool to provide an in-depth look at your accomplishments and potential. Learn how to create an effective e-portfolio in this session. We will discuss what information needs to be included in your e-portfolio, how to set up your e-portfolio, and how to use an e-portfolio in your job search and beyond! 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Quest Classroom, 1st Floor Vaughn Library.

STEAM Career Day: Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics are some of the hottest fields with the best hiring potential! Stop by for a panel session or to meet with members of the campus and community who work in STEAM fields to find out what the buzz is all about! 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Apache Rooms of Rogers Student Center. Panels will cover the following:

Résumé Writing 101: Tuesday, October 20, 2015 and Wednesday, October 21, 2015

This workshop will cover the latest tips and tricks in résumé writing. Acing the Interview: Tuesday, November 10, 2015 and Wednesday, November 11, 2015

You may have heard the saying: "hard skills get you the interview, soft skills get you the job." This interactive workshop will help you polish your soft skills and answer any questions you may have about the interview process. Topics covered include: how to prepare for an interview, what to wear, how to answer common questions, what questions you should ask employers, and more! 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Quest Classroom, 1st Floor Vaughn Library.

Etiquette Dinner: Thursday, November 19, 2015

What are appropriate topics of conversation at a business dinner? Which water glass belongs to you? What should you do with your plate when you are finished eating? Do you have to wait for everyone to get their food before you start eating? If you have ever had questions about how to conduct yourself while dining in a professional setting, then you should not miss this etiquette dinner! Our etiquette expert will be available to guide you through the process of business dining and answer any questions you may have. Come celebrate National Career Development Week with Career Services during this fun and informative evening! This event is FREE for students and pre-registration and business dress is REQUIRED! The etiquette dinner will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Board Dining Room on the 3rd Floor of Rogers Student Center.

Learn how to effectively use social media to market yourself to employers as well as what to avoid with social media. Employers will be on campus hiring students from all majors. Please dress professionally for this event and bring copies of your résumé. 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Apache Rooms, Rogers Student Center

Etiquette Dinner: Tuesday, April 12, 2016

Tyler Community Student Internship and Job Fair: Friday, April 22, 2016

Employers from the Tyler Community are looking for students from Tyler Junior College to complete internships in a variety of industries. All students MUST dress professionally and bring copies of their résumé. It is highly recommended that all students seek a professional critique of their résumé from the Career Services office. 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Tyler ISD Career and Technology Center, 3013 Earl Campbell Parkway, Tyler, TX 75701. This event is organized by Tyler Junior College Career Services, University of Texas at Tyler Career Services, Tyler Area Business & Education Council, and the Tyler ISD Career and Technology Center.
