Good Cents Financial Literacy Program

Tyler Junior College and Texas Bank and Trust are partnering on a yearlong series of events designed to increase students’ knowledge of credit and banking with the "Good Cents" program, intended to measurably increase student' financial literacy so that they can avoid bad credit and huge debt. Please check back often as new classroom instruction opportunities and campus events are added throughout the year.

Paint a Piggy for Pennies

  • Monday, April 14  (11:30 a.m. - 1 a.m.)  
  • In front of Vaughn Library

Come out and use your creativity to Paint a ceramic piggy bank to hold all of your loose change. Pictures will be taken of each decorated pig, and will be posted on the TJC Facebook page. There will be a contest for the best pig. The winner will get a $25 Starbucks gift card.

Cost is free!

Dollars for Donuts

  • Tuesday, April 15
  • 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. In front of Pirtle Technology
  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. In front of Jenkins Hall
Show your support of financial responsibility by signing a pledge stating you will be wise with your money! Donuts will be provided.

Money Grab!

  • Wednesday, April 16
  • 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.
  • 2nd floor of Rogers Student Center
Ever wanted to grab as much money as possible? Well, now’s your chance! Come out, and try your luck at the Money Grab. You will be asked financial literacy questions, and for every correct answer, can earn time to spend in the Money Grab machine! Prizes and Cash will be awarded!

Join us on Thursday to hear from Texas Bank and Trust representative, Scott Dickerson, as he discusses ways to stay financially savvy.
