Campus Service

The TJC Campus Clinic is staffed on weekdays (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) by a family nurse practitioner (FNP). An FNP is a registered nurse with advanced training in diagnosing and treating illness. FNPs also prescribe medications and administer physical exams with a focus on prevention, wellness and patient education.

The family nurse practitioner at TJC Campus Clinic is supervised by a family practice or internal medicine doctor from the ETMC First Physicians organization. This physician also provides several hours of direct care in the clinic each day, as the call schedule permits.

ETMC is responsible for all medical recordkeeping at the clinic and filing of insurance claims for clinic patients

Backed by round-the-clock care.

Registered nurses from ETMC offer continuous after-hours referral care by phone. These nurses triage the conditions of TJC students and staff members using an advanced computer-driven protocol system. If the nurses determine that immediate primary care is needed after-hours, ETMC will offer free transportation for on-campus TJC Students to and from the ETMC Tyler emergency center. In such situations, the facility fee at the ETMC Tyler emergency center will also be waived. This savings is also available to TJC employees, provided they call the TJC Campus Clinic number at 510-ETMC and follow the triage procedure.
