Tyler Junior College
offers many performance opportunities for those who wish to display
their talents in theatre, music and dance.
The Music
and Dance program offers performance opportunities
for select individuals in Apache Band, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble,
Instrumental Chamber Ensembles, Guitar Ensemble, Acappella
Choir, and Harmony & Understanding. Dance opportunities
are available through Apache Belles, credit Dance Classes
and the TJC Academy of Dance.
The Speech
and Theatre program produces five dramatic stage productions
each year, plus the Spring Musical, held in conjunction with the
Music and Dance program. In addition, the TJC Forensic Club, ranked
among the best in the nation, offers competitive meets on campus
and at other colleges throughout the Southwest. Stage preparation
for children is offered through the Ivah Albright Children's Theatre,
held in conjunction with TJC Continuing Education.
The Fine Arts program has two exhibition spaces, the Jenkins Art Department Lobby Gallery and the Wise Auditorium Gallery. Another benefit to the TJC art student is the close proximity of the Tyler Museum of Art, which is located on campus. The TMA exhibits work from nationally known artists and provides an unparalleled educational opportunity.
