Tips for Success

Tips for Building Your Class Schedule

  • Try to avoid scheduling a 9:00 A.M. class on MWF, if possible.
  • Avoid night classes as much as possible.

Applied music (private lessons) instruction times are all listed as TBA "to be announced". They will be scheduled at a time that is agreeable between you and your teacher. It is the student's responsibility to contact the teacher concerning scheduling.

Register for all of the classes that are checked off on your advising form. Be careful to choose the exact section from the advising form.

  • Wear sunscreen, caps and sunglasses for marching practices.
  • Wear loose fitting cotton shirts and shorts to practices.
  • Always have your instrument, music, drill chart and a pencil at rehearsals.
  • Always transport your instrument in a case.
  • Learn your music completely through individual practice prior to rehearsals.
  • Always remember that you actions represent yourself, your family, your former teachers-this is serious business.
  • Always treat other people like you prefer to be treated.
  • Even if you are employed, remember that doing well in college and advancing toward graduation are your primary jobs.
