Bennie Mims was the director/instructor for the program and he was a great instructor, as was Dennis Price. They were positive role models and assisted my peers and me a great deal in launching our careers. Bennie Mims encouraged me to pursue my B.S. at U.T.Tyler also in Crij. I completed it the Fall 0f 1990 at U.T. Tyler. Johnny Dark, Class of (Spring) 1980 |

Pledging Zeta, being a DU little sis, studing computer science under Mr. Harkrider (I think that was his name) trying to draw flow charts, oh, and being one of the very last students to take key punch!
Made a lot of friends, kept up with one or two, would love to hear from more. |

Even the tough and trying times are not ones I would ever replace. I learned so much about life, love and people. TJC prepared me for more than just my educational or employment future. Sadly, some of the friends and loves have passed away, but not a day goes by that they aren't with me and those times are with me. I can still feel myself there, laughing with them, crying and growing. Thank you Tyler Jr. College, for being one of the BEST experiences in my life! Sincerely, Tami |

I remember when Jenkins Hall was brand new, and we still had classes in the temp buildings. I love to think back of all the friendships I had at TJC, and am grateful for several very close girlfriends I met there, who are still some of my closest friends today. - Go Apaches! |

She is considering attending when she graduates in 2009. We were also there to watch my older daughter in her tennis match there (she plays for another Jr College). It brought back so many memories when my husband and I attended TJC in the 1980's! the campus is still so beautiful!
Also, the best memory of all is to come back to the Magnolia Street area where the parking lot is now. My Great-grandmother, Rivvie Stamps, owned that entire portion of land, from Fifth Street all the way to Lake Street. That is where my mother was born and all of her siblings were raised and went to the College Heights Baptist Church, until about 1966, when she decided to sell it to TJC so that they could build the new dorms and parking for the students. If you look really hard in the huge tree in the parking lot, you can still spot a small part of their old tree house in that big beautiful tree.

I would love it if some Alumni would write me a short "I remember when...." story. We would like to feature some of these in the coming issues this year. I look forward to hearing from you |

I'll never forget Smith Co. Electric co, Another Place, Cheerleading, Souci's, New Orleans trips, the panty raids at Vaughn Hall, singing in the TeePee, the kissing lines at the lake, and how my friend picked up an entire fraternity in her truck after the guys were dropped off in the middle of nowhere. - No cells phones back then either! What a great time.
A big miss you to the guys we lost way too soon----Billy Banks, Tony Cobbs, Bob Cavenas, Will Few. |
