What Will My Life Be Like As
A Surgical Technology Student?

Your life will be: BUSY, FUN, CHALLENGING, REWARDING, AND BUSY (A LITTLE FRUSTRATING AND CONFUSING IN THE BEGINNING).

You will need to be: COMMITTED, ENERGETIC, ORGANIZED, MOTIVATED, PEOPLE (PATIENT) ORIENTED, AND A TEAM PLAYER.

TYPICAL SCHEDULE
I Semester:  T-R-F: Classes on West Campus Begin at 8 a.m.
M-W: Eight Hours each day at the hospital Begin at 6:30 a.m.

II Semester:  M-T-R-F: Eight Hours each day at the hospital except for Friday, which is 6 hours.  Each day begin at 6:30 a.m.
W: Classes on West Campus Begin at 8:00 a.m.

At clinical education or "practicum" the student becomes a part of the health care team very quickly. The student is there to learn, so active, initiative driven (get in there and work) behavior is expected. The patient is the prime-number one concern.  Surgical Technology is very much a patient oriented profession.
