Wellness & Exercise Specialist

Overview

The Wellness & Exercise Specialist degree prepares graduates to become certified personal trainers and/or certified group exercise instructors. The certified personal trainer and/or certified group exercise instructor may work with both apparently healthy individuals and those with health challenges who are able to exercise independently in order to enhance quality of life, improve health-related physical fitness, improve exercise and/or sports performance, manage health risk, and promote lasting healthy behavior changes.

Personal trainers and group exercise instructors work for fitness and recreation centers, medical facilities, gyms, exercise studios, country clubs, resorts and universities. Some will train private clients at their homes or on location. There are also personal trainers employed by companies that offer employee wellness programs.
