TJC To Host UIL Region 3AA Competition

Tyler Junior College will host the 2015 Region AAA II University Interscholastic League spring meet in April/May on the main campus. This will be the 26th year TJC has hosted this event.

More than 1,500 high school students from approximately 64 conference 3-A schools in East Texas independent school districts are expected to participate. The students will compete in academic, theatrical and athletic events.

  • The activities will begin with One-Act Play Competition, which will begin with rehearsals on April 22 and performances on April 23rd. Performances are open to the public for a fee.  All performances are at Wise Auditorium located on the main campus of TJC.
  • The Men's & Women's Golf Tournaments to be held April 13-14 in Bullard. (SPECIAL NOTE CONCERNING GOLF: Officials will be used.)
  • Tennis Tournaments will be April 20-21.
  • Academic events will be held Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 in Jenkins Hall, Potter Hall, Genecov Science Building, Pirtle Technology Building, Rogers’ Apache Rooms and Wise Cultural Arts Building. (See schedule for exact locations of contests.)
  • Track Events will be May 1-2 at Whitehouse High School.

SPECIAL NOTE CONCERNING SPEECH JUDGES: Each school is responsible for bringing qualified judges. See page 9 of the Handbook for complete information. Please note that the Speech Director will need to hire additional qualified judges.  Schools and Districts are encouraged to send in names (see appropriate form below and/or at the end of the booklet.)
