COURSE NAME: Interpersonal Communication

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: A lecture class where games, exercises and lectures are used to increase the student's awareness of the theory and to give practice in person-to-person interaction with focus on development, maintenance and termination of relationships.

PURPOSE AND GOALS OF COURSE: To familiarize the student with the various ways that communication affects our personal lives, both nonverbally and verbally.

COURSE GRADE: A pre-test, three major exams, homework, a personal crest, a group project and a post-test. The pre-test is not counted in any way to determine the final grade.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: A combination of lectures and class exercises supplemented by films, instructor-provided supplementary handout materials, textbook assignments, exams and assigned self-evaluation exercise.

METHODS OF EVALUATION: a pre-test, three major tests, homework, personal crest, a group project and a post-test. The pre-test is not counted in any way to determine the final grade.

6. Discuss the importance of nonverbal communication, use of language, and be able to cite good and poor examples of each.
