DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:
A survey of the development of the theatre from the 1700s to the
twentieth century.

PURPOSE OF COURSE:
To provide an understanding and familiarity with the theories and
practices of theatre from the 1700s to the present with its primary
emphasis in the European tradition.
COURSE GRADE:
Five major exams, group project, completion of a required play reading list, 20 hour practicum, and
a final comprehensive exam will determine the final grade.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:
Lectures, audio/visual aids presentations, textbook assigned readings,
written exams, assigned play reading, crew experience.
METHODS OF EVALUATION:
A pre-test, four major exams, play reading reports, practicum forms,
a post-test.
