DRAM 2362 COURSE SYLLABUS

COURSE NAME: Theatre History II
HOURS: Lecture 3, Laboratory 0
SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS: 3

DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: A survey of the development of the theatre from the 1700s to the twentieth century.

TEXTBOOK: Living Theatre
AUTHORS: Edwin Wilson and Alvin Goldfarb

PURPOSE OF COURSE: To provide an understanding and familiarity with the theories and practices of theatre from the 1700s to the present with its primary emphasis in the European tradition.

COURSE GRADE: Five major exams, group project, completion of a required play reading list, 20 hour practicum, and a final comprehensive exam will determine the final grade.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: Lectures, audio/visual aids presentations, textbook assigned readings, written exams, assigned play reading, crew experience.

METHODS OF EVALUATION: A pre-test, four major exams, play reading reports, practicum forms, a post-test.

After studying the material presented in this course of study, the student will be able to do the following:
