MISSION AND GOALS
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The Tyler Junior College Radiologic Technology program provides eligible candidates with learning resources that ensure qualified students develop the skills in accordance with the institutional mission. The program strives to instill into its students the value of life long learning to enhance personal growth and development of workplace, business and leadership skills.

Goal 1: Students of the Tyler Junior College Radiologic Technology Program will be clinically competent. Clinical competence will be demonstrated through production of quality radiographs, radiation safety and competent patient care.

Goal 2: Tyler Junior College Radiologic Technology students will learn to communicate effectively through interaction with patients, faculty and staff. Assignments will develop written communication skills.

Goal 3: Tyler Junior College Radiologic Technology Students will develop the critical thinking skills required to adjust to workplace conditions.

Goal 4: Tyler Junior College Radiologic Technology Students will demonstrate the professionalism required of medical personnel.

Students will demonstrate effective oral communication skills. RADR 1311/2301 Lab Practicum Eval. (Patient Preparation Category Quest. 2 - 5) On the Final Practicum, the composite student average for this category will be >= 90% Semester 1 & 2/ Laboratory Instructors New Benchmark set 2008. Pending results. New Benchmark set 2008. Pending results.
RADR 2217 Radiographic Pathology (Oral/Written Pathology Project) Students average grade for this Project will be >= 85% as reflected by the oral grading rubric Semester 4/ Instructor MET: Average oral grade was over 90% First year using this tool. If high scores continue, consider raising the benchmark.
Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills. RADR 2233 Advanced Medical Imaging Students will earn a minimum of 160 of 400 pts at least 2 papers on Modalities. Semester 3/ Instructor New Benchmark set 2008. Pending results. New Benchmark set 2008. Pending results.
RADR 2217 Radiographic Pathology (Oral/Written Pathology Project) Students average grade for this Project will be >= 85% as reflected by the written grading rubric Semester 4/ Instructor MET:Average grade for Pathology project 87% Continue/monitor
RADR 2336 Special Patient Applications (5 History and Abbreviations Quiz Grades) Composite Student Average will be >= 85% Semester 3/ Instructor New Benchmark set 2008. Pending results. New Benchmark set 2008. Pending results.
