MISSION AND GOALS
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Program Mission

The mission of the Tyler Junior College Radiologic Technology Program is to provide qualified individuals with an optimal learning experience which seeks to ensure that graduates perform radiologic procedures as defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Practice Standards. Graduates of the Radiologic Technology Program will exemplify professionalism in a manner consistent with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Principles of Professional Conduct for Radiologic Technologists and Code of Ethics.

Program Purpose

The purpose of the program is to provide the health care community with graduates who are competent, employable entry-level radiographers, compassionate care givers and dynamic members of the total health care team. Tyler Junior College Radiologic Technology graduates will value and integrate learning as a life long process.

Program Goals:

1. Provide the community with qualified radiologic technologists.

Outcome Objectives:
1. Graduates will be competent in entry level knowledge and skills and display appropriate behaviors as set froth the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Examination Content Specifications and Clinical Competency Requirements, and the American Society of Radiologic Technology Curriculum Guide.
2. Graduates will be prepared for successful completion of the American Registry of  Radiologic Technologist national exam.
3. Graduates who seek employment are employed in the field or are pursuing additional education.
4. In a five year period, an average of seventy five percent of enrolled students will complete the program within 150% of the program length. 

2. The program will create a learning environment which facilitates student achievement of expected cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning outcomes.

Outcome Objectives:
1. Graduates will display clinical competency.
2. Graduates will demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.
3. Graduates will apply appropriate communications skills.
4. Graduates will exhibit professional development and growth.
