Program Mission: The Teacher Education Program prepares students for meaningful careers in the field of education. The Program assists students in developing knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to become effective and caring teacher in our society. In addition, our mission includes preparing teachers to contribute to the development of learning communities outside the classroom. These include the school, surrounding communities, and the professional community of educators. The program will prepare students to become reflective, lifelong learners.

The education program offers courses leading to completion of Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees. The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) is a specialized academic associate degree program designed to transfer in its entirety to a baccalaureate program that leads to initial Texas teacher certification.

The EC-6/4-8 Grade Levels; EC-12 Special Education program is designed to provide students with the first two years of a four-year degree leading to teacher certification at the EC-6 and 4-8 grade levels, as well as EC-12 Special Education. The 8-12 Grade Levels program is designed to provide students with the first two years of coursework leading to certification to teach at the secondary level.
